MOMENTUM HIRES NEW CFO

San Jose, Calif – March 05, 2010 – Momentum for Mental Health, the leading non-profit provider of mental health services in Santa Clara County, today announced the addition of a new CFO – Melinda Golden. Golden will replace Jack Smelser, who retired in January.

As the head of the Finance Department, Golden will provide leadership, strategic management in the development of financial policy and practices consistent with Momentum’s mission. “I am confident in her ability to fill her predecessor’s shoes,” said Paul Taylor, CEO and president of Momentum. I look forward to working with her to assess the organization’s performance against both annual budget and long-term strategy.”

Golden joins Momentum with more than 15 years of work experience in the nonprofit sector. Immediately before joining Momentum, she was the CFO at Opportunity Builders, a nonprofit development corporation in Oakdale. There, she was responsible for all accounting processes including operations, reporting and multiple limited partnerships. She also negotiated structure, terms, documents and funding procedures. She helped create over 2,000 units of affordable housing for low-income individuals, families and seniors; and is looking forward to making an impact at Momentum.

“I am very excited about joining Momentum and look forward to meeting and working with everyone” said Golden. “It is great to be working for an organization with a wonderful mission and long history of providing much needed services in our communities. This opportunity will allow me to use my financial knowledge and experience to help the individuals and families that Momentum serves.”
